Unframed oil on canvas
The first side depicts a bucolic river scene and has a fabulous craquelure finish to it. The distant mountain range and the avenue of trees both lead the eye away and add depth.
A gentle & calm scene yet with enough activity to hold interest in the form of a fisherman, an individual on the bridge and a peasant woman resting on the bench.

And now to the reverse...
This canvas has clearly been repurposed at some point and a much later rendering of a church & graveyard can be found to the rear, signed D. Rose.
As both paintings are done in oils, the canvas is really heavy and solid. I have chosen not to frame it but instead have hung it using a vintage advertising hanger - which is included in the sale.
