This is a lovely red velvet example of a French "globe de mariee" cushion.
These traditionally sat underneath glass domes and would be used for the bride to display her wedding tiara after the big day.
Designs vary per region and this particular one has a velvet base on the ebonised stand as well as the velvet cushion itself. Featuring an intricate toleware decoration of leaves and flowers and 4 original mirrors. The ebonised base features button feet.
