Probably the most beautiful shellwork piece I have ever owned....
This substantial casket style jewellery box came from France many years ago. It has obvious damage but is still the most stunning piece of work. Damage includes tattered velvet trim, many missing shells, most of the top shells are no longer attached - BUT many (all?) of them are still inside ready for someone to whip out some glue and reattach them. I haven't messed with it all - this is in its 100% original state
The seed work to the front spells out SOUVENIR and it is dated on the side 1890 with initials DE to the other side
Size: 23cm across the base, 20cm tall depth 17cm across the base
